MacOS Quickstart Guide¶
This quickstart guide is for installing ADF/AMS on an Apple MacOS machine. Please also read the generic Installation manual if you encounter problems.
Start with downloading AMS2019 for MacOS from the main download page (click the orange Download button below the grey Apple logo), and save it on your computer. Open adf2019.101.macintel64.openmpi.dmg after the download is complete (Newer versions of AMS will have a different number in the file name). This should mount the disk image on your desktop and open it.
Select and drag the “ADF2019.101 application to the Applications shortcut, this installs AMS2019 in your Applications folder. Close the disk image window after the copy operation is complete, and launch ADF2019.101 from your Applications. Wait for MacOS to finish verifying the application (this is only done once), and click “Open” on the warning about ADF2019.101 being an application downloaded from the internet.
If MacOS does not allow you to open the ADF2019.101 application, you might need to loosen your security settings to “Allow apps downloaded from: App Store and identified developers”. This setting can be found in the “Security & Privacy” page of the System Preferences.
If you want to use the AMS2019 scripting invironment or execute programs from the command line, you can launch a terminal from the ADF2019.101 application. Launch ADF2019.101, click the help menu, and select Terminal. This will open a terminal window with the correct environment set up, and access to the included python stack.
